# Hunter.io

Find professional emails at a domain, guess a work address from a name, and verify deliverability.

URL: https://osintverse.com/docs/providers/hunter

Hunter.io on SearchIn runs Domain Search, Email Finder, and Email Verifier against the same prepaid wallet as every other source.

## Capabilities

* Domain Search — emails found at a website, with titles, departments, confidence, and the public page and date each address was found
* Email Finder — most likely work email from a person name and company domain, marked as sourced or as a domain-level guess
* Email Verifier — deliverability status and SMTP flags
* Public-web index of about 150 million professional addresses, from about 650 million public sources
* Automatic polling when the verifier needs more time (HTTP 202)

## Data

Hunter publishes these figures for the index behind Domain Search and Email Finder: about 150 million professional email addresses, about 650 million public sources, and about 30 million web pages crawled a day. Domain Search includes where and when each address was found. Email Finder says whether a result was found on a public page or guessed from public patterns at that domain. Sources that disappear are labeled Removed, and data with no remaining public source is dropped after six months. People can claim an address and delete it; site owners can block the crawler with robots.txt.

## What you get back

* Email table with confidence, personal vs generic type, title, and verification
* Finder person card with score and sources
* Verifier status flags (disposable, webmail, MX, SMTP)

## UI workflow

Choose Domain, Name, or Email.

Select Hunter.io. For Name, enter first name, last name, and the company domain.

Review emails or the verification card, then pivot hits into leak or WHOIS providers.

## Sample queries

| Input type | Query | Notes |
| ---------- | --------------------------- | -------------------------------------------- |
| `domain` | `stripe.com` | First page of emails found at the domain |
| `name` | `Alexis Ohanian reddit.com` | Email Finder — full name then company domain |
| `email` | `patrick@stripe.com` | Deliverability verification |

API name queries use the same `Full Name example.com` format. You can also write `Jane Doe @ example.com`.

## Pricing

`domain` **$0.20** · `name` **$0.20** · `email` **$0.10**

## Best for

* Mapping [who@company.com](mailto:who@company.com) during an investigation
* Confirming a guessed work email before a deeper people search
* Checking whether an address is disposable, catch-all, or deliverable

## How it works & why through OSINTverse

### How the request runs

1. Choose Domain, Name, or Email and select Hunter.io. A name search needs a person name plus the company domain — the UI collects first name, last name, and domain; the API query is Full Name example.com.
2. Domain Search calls Hunter’s domain-search endpoint for the first page of emails (10 by default). Email Finder calls email-finder. Email Verifier calls email-verifier and may stay running until Hunter finishes SMTP checks.
3. SearchIn bills $0.20 for Domain Search and Email Finder, and $0.10 for verification, then normalises emails, people, and verification flags.
4. Hits become graph nodes so you can pivot an address into LeakRadar, DeHashed, or reverse WHOIS without retyping.

**Coverage.** Hunter builds its professional-email index from the public web: about 150 million addresses, about 650 million public sources, and about 30 million pages crawled a day. Domain Search returns each contact with where and when it was found. Email Finder says whether the address was found on a public page or guessed from public patterns at that domain. Sources that can no longer be found are labeled Removed, and contact or company data with no remaining public source is dropped after six months. People can claim an address and delete it; site owners can block the crawler with robots.txt.

### Why route Hunter.io through OSINTverse

- Domain Search, Email Finder, and verification share one prepaid SearchIn wallet — $0.20 per search, $0.10 per verification.
- The verifier’s 202 wait is polled for you, same as every other running SearchIn job.
- Emails drop onto the case graph so the next pivot is a leak or WHOIS lookup, not a copy-paste into Hunter’s UI.

| | Hunter.io directly | Through OSINTverse |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Getting started | Hunter.io sells search credits and verification credits on its own plans, with a finder/verifier API you authenticate and paginate yourself. | Sign in, top up from $10, and run Hunter.io the same minute — no vendor contract, seat, or sales call. |
| What a query costs | Plan, credit pack, or contract pricing set by the vendor and paid up front. | Pay per query from your prepaid balance — Hunter.io starts at $0.10 for email lookups, with the exact price shown before you run it. |
| Failed lookups | Handled under the vendor's own credit and refund policy. | Automatically refunded to your wallet — a search that fails upstream after billing is not charged. |
| Output format | A vendor-specific response shape you normalise and render yourself. | Normalised result panels plus the raw JSON, returned by the same POST /v1/search contract as every other integration. |
| Cross-source work | Copy-paste between vendor dashboards to follow a lead into another dataset. | Results join one case graph, so you can pivot an entity into any of the other 16 integrations in a click. |
| Running it for a team | Per-seat or per-account access, billed and administered per analyst. | One shared team wallet with roles, provider allowlists, enforced MFA, and audit history — no per-seat fee. |
| Volume work | Script the vendor API yourself, including retries, polling, and rate handling. | Bulk search takes up to 50 queries across selected providers in one submission (max 100 jobs), with per-job status and partial-failure handling. |

- **One wallet, no subscriptions.** Top up prepaid USD from $10 and spend it a query at a time across all 17 integrations. No monthly fee, no seat count — and the balance never expires.
- **Failed searches are refunded.** If an upstream provider errors or times out after the charge, the search is marked refunded and the money goes back to your wallet automatically.
- **One API for every source.** The same POST /v1/search contract and x-api-key header work for every integration, so adding a source to your automation is a one-word change.
- **Cases and pivot graph.** Results land in a named case you can reopen. Entities become graph nodes you can pivot from into any other integration without retyping.
- **Team wallets and controls.** Share one balance with roles, provider allowlists, enforced MFA, and audit history — instead of buying a vendor seat for every analyst.
- **Exports built in.** Download any result as JSON, CSV, or PDF, and export the case graph as PNG, SVG, entities CSV, or graph JSON.

### Good to know

- This integration returns the first Domain Search page (10 emails). Hunter may have more; extra pages are not auto-fetched.
- Email Finder can return a guess built from public patterns at the domain, not a page that lists that address. Treat confidence and verification as leads, not proof.
- Hunter removes contact and company data that has had no public source for six months, after labeling missing sources as Removed.
- Hunter will not process some people who have asked not to be included (HTTP 451) — those lookups refund.

> Invalid `provider` + `input_type` pairs return HTTP 422. Confirm combinations with [GET /v1/providers](https://osintverse.com/docs/api/overview) or the [pricing matrix](https://osintverse.com/docs/pricing). Hunter name queries must include a company domain.
