OSINTverse vs SpiderFoot
SpiderFoot is a module-driven recon scanner. SearchIn is a prepaid desk for commercial OSINT datasets you actually pay to query.
SpiderFoot (open source and HX) shines at orchestrating dozens of modules against a target: DNS, breaches, public APIs, and whatever keys you drop in. It is a scanner you operate. OSINTverse is a commercial desk: we hold the vendor relationships, you pay per SearchIn query, and results land in a UI built for those providers. SpiderFoot will always be more of a DIY recon engine. SearchIn will always be more of a paid-data product with refunds, teams, and a stable API.
Run SpiderFoot when you want to orchestrate your own keys and modules. Use OSINTverse when you want commercial providers without operating a scanner.
What SpiderFoot is great at
- Scan-style OSINT automation across a huge module list
- Letting you bring your own API keys into one recon run
- Open-source flexibility (and HX if you want the commercial scanner)
- Target-centric footprints you generate on infrastructure you control
SpiderFoot vs OSINTverse
Structural access and workflow — not invented list prices for SpiderFoot.
| SpiderFoot | Through OSINTverse | |
|---|---|---|
| Getting started | Install SpiderFoot or subscribe to HX, configure modules and keys. | Sign in and top up. Providers are already connected. |
| How you pay | Your time, hosting, and whatever API keys you attach — plus HX if you use it. | Prepaid SearchIn queries. Vendor keys stay on our side. |
| Control | You own the scan graph and module mix. | You choose among SearchIn integrations; we operate upstream access. |
| Output | SpiderFoot scan results and exports. | Provider-specific panels, raw JSON, investigation graph exports. |
| Failed lookups | Module errors inside your scan. | Charged-then-failed upstream calls refund to the wallet. |
| Team | Whoever can reach your SpiderFoot instance. | Roles, allowlists, MFA, billing audit. |
What OSINTverse adds
- Named commercial providers without standing up a scanner or babysitting keys
- Pay-per-query pricing with automatic refunds — not a scan that burns every key at once
- Normalised UI for OSINT Industries, LeakRadar, DeHashed, Facecheck.id, and the rest
- Team wallets and audit history for billed work
- A supported API rather than a self-hosted scan engine
When to pick which
Stay with SpiderFoot when it is the right tool. Use SearchIn when the desk around it matters.
Frequently asked questions
Is OSINTverse a SpiderFoot alternative?
For buying commercial OSINT without running a recon scanner, yes. For orchestrating every module you can think of against a target, SpiderFoot remains the scanner.
Can I point SpiderFoot at SearchIn?
SearchIn exposes POST /v1/search. You could call it from your own automation. We do not ship a SpiderFoot module.
Open source vs paid data?
Use both. SpiderFoot is excellent at public and BYO-key recon. SearchIn is for LeakRadar, DeHashed, OSINT Industries, and other paid sources with a receipt.
