Problems with OSINTverse, and who it is not for
Every tool has a shape. This page says where ours stops, so you do not find out after a top-up.
OSINTverse is for people who want many paid OSINT sources behind one search and a case file, paid per lookup. It is the wrong tool if you need continuous monitoring, unlimited bulk volume on a flat fee, a desktop Transform ecosystem, a SIEM or threat intelligence platform, social media collection at scale, or a self-hosted deployment.
Known limitations
These are the things current users most often hit. None of them are hidden in the terms; they are how the product is built.
- Per-lookup pricing is great for investigations and expensive for always-on monitoring. Thousands of lookups a day on one identifier set is not what the wallet is for.
- Coverage is the integrated catalog, nothing more. If the source you need is not on the integrations page, OSINTverse cannot query it.
- Empty results are still paid results. A completed lookup with no provider data is not refunded, and a provider that rejects an input it cannot process stays charged.
- Two sources run asynchronously. OSINT Industries and Facecheck.id stream results over a minute or two instead of returning instantly.
- Provider data is third-party. OSINTverse formats and files it; it does not verify it. Every match still needs an analyst's judgment.
- It is a hosted service. There is no on-premises or self-hosted edition, and no data residency choice.
- GraphIn is a paid unlock. The shared team graph is a one-time fee per team, not part of the free account.
- Facial recognition and photo geolocation sources carry legal and ethical limits that vary by jurisdiction. You are responsible for lawful use.
Who should pick something else
If one of these describes your job, the comparison pages will point you to a better fit. We would rather lose the top-up than the trust.
| Your job | Look at instead |
|---|---|
| Link analysis on a desktop with a Transform library you already license | Maltego, IBM i2, Lampyre |
| Social media collection, monitoring, and alerting at scale | Social Links, ShadowDragon, Skopenow |
| A threat intelligence platform, SIEM, or SOC workflow | A TIP or SIEM; OSINTverse is a search layer, not a platform of record |
| Continuous exposure monitoring for your own domains | Shodan monitors, Have I Been Pwned domain alerts, SpyCloud, Hudson Rock |
| Unlimited free username and email enumeration | Sherlock, Maigret, WhatsMyName, Holehe |
| Full-scope automated recon on a flat fee | SpiderFoot, Recon-ng, theHarvester |
| One vendor's full portal features, such as Shodan filters or DomainTools Iris | That vendor's own subscription |
Who it is built for
Solo investigators and small teams who run a handful to a few hundred lookups a month across breach, people, domain, host, and image sources, and want each one priced, filed in a case, and exportable. Larger desks that want a shared wallet, roles, SSO, and an audit trail without per-seat licensing. Developers and agent builders who want those same sources behind one API key or one MCP endpoint.
What we do about the limits
Failed upstream lookups refund automatically. Unused balance is refundable within 7 days of a top-up. Teams can cap monthly spend and restrict providers. Agents get a daily cap and a confirmation step above a price you choose. If a source you need is missing, tell us; the catalog grows from requests.

FAQ
Who it is not for, answered
Does OSINTverse replace Maltego?
Not when you need Maltego's desktop Transform suite. GraphIn is the browser alternative to buying another Maltego seat for link analysis, and it bills transforms per lookup. Keep Maltego for the Transforms you already own.
Can I use it for monitoring?
You can re-run a lookup whenever you like, from the app, the API, or an agent, but there is no scheduled monitoring or alerting. Always-on exposure monitoring is better served by a vendor built for it.
What happens when a lookup returns nothing?
It is charged as a completed lookup. That is the provider's price for answering, even when the answer is no matches. Upstream failures are different and refund automatically.
Is it legal to run facial recognition lookups?
That depends on where you are and why you are searching. Facecheck.id and the geolocation sources are offered for lawful investigative use, and you are responsible for complying with local law and the provider's terms.
