Maigret online
Search a username across the 500+ most-visited sites in Maigret's database, grouped by category.
Runs Maigret by Soxoj and contributors (MIT). 500 sites from soxoj/maigret@ec2d90c, synced 2026-10-14. Not affiliated with the project.
How Maigret works here
Maigret's database describes thousands of sites, each with the strings that appear on a real profile and on a missing one. We take the most-visited sites by traffic rank, skip any behind a captcha or JavaScript challenge, and apply Maigret's own presence and absence rules.
Each site keeps Maigret's tags (social, coding, gaming, forum, country codes), so you can read hits by category.
How to read the results
- Found
- The page matched Maigret's rule for an existing profile. Open it to confirm.
- Not found
- The page matched Maigret's rule for a missing profile.
- Could not check
- Timed out, rate-limited, or blocked by a bot check.
- Tags
- Maigret's categories for the site, useful for spotting where someone spends time.
What this free check cannot tell you
- The full Maigret CLI checks thousands of sites; this page checks the 500+ with the most traffic, which is where most real accounts are.
- Maigret's profile parsing and recursive search (following usernames it finds on a profile) are not part of the online version.
- A match is a profile with that name, not proof of identity.
When the free check is not enough
Maigret finds the accounts. SearchIn's identity providers return what is on them and what they connect to, and its leak providers show where the handle appears in breaches.
What people use it for
- Wide coverage for rare handles after a Sherlock pass
- Category view of someone's footprint: forums, coding, gaming, regional sites
- Finding regional sites (Russian, Ukrainian, Asian forums) that Sherlock does not list

FAQ
Maigret, answered
Why not all of Maigret's sites?
The long tail is mostly small forums that are slow, offline, or behind bot checks, which would make every search take minutes and fill the results with errors. The most-visited sites cover most real accounts. The CLI is the way to sweep everything.
Does this do Maigret's recursive search?
No. The CLI can read a found profile, pull out other usernames or IDs, and search those too. The online version reports existence only. Run the CLI, or use GraphIn to follow pivots by hand.
Is Maigret better than Sherlock?
It covers more sites and tags them, at the cost of more false positives on small sites. Many investigators run both. Our comparison page goes through the differences.
Do you store what I search?
No. The username, email, phone, or domain you enter is sent in the request body, never in a URL, and it is not logged. Results are cached for a few hours under a one-way hash of the input so a repeat search is fast, then they expire.
Why is this free?
Because the first pass should cost nothing. These checks use open-source tools and free public data. When a result needs commercial data, such as people-search modules or breach records, SearchIn runs those as paid lookups with a receipt.
