The OSINT Curious Project

A volunteer collective, 2018 to 2023

Closed in February 2023, but the blog, ten-minute tips, webcasts, and podcast remain online. One of the best beginner archives in the field; do not expect new material or a live community.

Founded in December 2018 by a group of practitioners including Micah Hoffman, Nico Dekens, Sector035, Technisette, Rae Baker, and Ritu Gill, OSINT Curious produced webcasts, short tip videos, blog posts, and a podcast until it closed in early 2023. The website and YouTube channel stay up for the community. Its Discord's fate after closure is unclear.

Closed on 27 February 2023. The archive is excellent and the people behind it now publish elsewhere. Do not treat it as an active community or training provider.

Worth it if

  • You want short, practical tip videos from people who went on to write the field's books and courses
  • You like webcasts where practitioners work through a problem live
  • You are starting out and want approachable material

Skip it if

  • You want current platform steps; everything predates 2023
  • You want to ask questions; nobody is there to answer

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is the Discord still running?

Unclear. The closure post does not mention it, and a renamed server may exist. We do not list it as an active community.

Why is it closed?

The collective announced changes in January 2023 and published a final post in February 2023 saying the project had closed, leaving the content online.
